Tuesday Clayton and Deanna left for work before we got out of their driveway...poor buggers.
We departed around 0830 and went straight to Dunkin Donuts for Coffee and breakfast, their $6 meal is hard to beat...just saying.
We decided to stop in Saratoga and look in on Justin (married my niece Jennifer) who is recovering from a bout with Pancreatitis. Luckily, he is on the mend, and it was good catching up with them.
June, Jennifer and I even walked downtown for lunch at Druthers Brewery, the loaded mac&cheese was awesome; I even took half of it home for later.
Downtown Saratoga is quite nice and it was a bluebird day, sunny and 68F, just perfect for a walk.
When we left mom, I decided I would rinse off the Serenity Falcon at the Ticonderoga car wash...that didn't go so well. The bay height was not marked, but it looked high enough, I eased in and heard a noise but nothing serious. The machine would not take bills and I had no change, so we decided to leave, but I could not get out. Long story short I drove out with the door scraping on the AC unit, I don't think I broke anything, but will have to check it out later. It was a stupid move on my part. We drove to the Port Henry car wash, it has plenty of height and is a better wash anyway.
We arrived home around 1645, it is always nice to get home. It was ridiculously warm, about 65F and sunny, we unloaded, dumped our tanks, etc. and put the LTV in the barn, where it won't freeze while we wait for spring in Vermont.
Trip Data: I know everyone loves data as much as I do...NOT!
We left on Valentine's day, February 14th and returned on March 11th, we were on the road 26 Days.
We drove just short of 5K miles, 4,893 miles to be exact.
We used 295 gallons of fuel, with an average cost of $3.70 per gallon. For a total fuel expense of $1091.
The highest price was $4.20 in PA, the lowest $3.30 in SC.
We averaged 16.6 mpg, which is pretty much what we get on long trips.
The best was 18.2 mpg, the worst was 14.7 mpg.
We spent 25 nights on the road, 14 nights we either driveway surfed or stayed at a friend or relatives, 6 nights at Cracker Barrel, 2 nights at Harvest Hosts and 3 nights at campgrounds. We only plugged in at the campgrounds and even then, it was only because we paid for it. The electrical upgrade I did last year makes running out of batteries a second thought, not a first.
This trip was more visiting than site seeing, we only hit 8 states but we visited many (but not all) of our friends and relatives along the way. We hope they don't mind us dropping in on them, we can be a bit insidious. (Insidious comes from a Latin word for “ambush” (insidiae))

Great trip and you do keep exceptionally good records!! We really did like Key West and hope to go back. Glad everything went well and you are back to Potash Bay in good form. From Sue wow. What an adventure. Happy you are home safely and didn’t lose your air conditioner . See you before too long.
ReplyDeleteWell, almost done visiting family….it was good to see Jen and Justin even though he was not 100% healthy, he did go home that day. Ruth was looking good and in good spirits. :). Home sweet home.
