Saturday morning we left ChainBridge Distillery about 9:30AM and took A1A north. Much of A1A has the intercoastal waterway on one side of the road and beautiful beaches, homes and hotels on the other, it is slow but worth doing now and then. It is a beautiful drive, especially the "Hillsboro Mile" which is a bit of a view how the extremely wealthy live.
On Saturday we spent the afternoon at Jonathan Dickenson State Park, again they had no sites so we used it for the day.
On the drive in we stopped at 'Crocodile culvert' and sure enough there was a Croc lounging in the sun.
We found a place in the shade to park and have lunch, it was rather hot (mid 80s). While we were parked, I decided to exercise the generator since we have not used it this trip. It is a good thing we didn't need it since it refused to run for more than a few minutes. I will have to look at it when we get home. It was hot, so we ran the AC on batteries for several hours; it is still amazing to me that we can do that. I will have to deal with the Genny when we get home. I am tempted to either do away with it entirely or replace it with a quiet inverter generator. These RV Onans are just primitive for what they cost.
When we set off on our
The sign said swim at your own risk, after seeing the gator coming in, we decided to pass on swimming.
After our hike stroll about, we decided to see some more of route 1 as we made our way towards Fort Pierce where we planned to meet Michele and Brian for dinner. Sam has company in town and will not make it, we may try again in a few days. Along the way we checked out two cracker barrels, both had no overnight parking signs, I think this has something to do with local ordinances, since the sign says "due to codes". There is a movement in the US to pass local codes banning sleeping in your vehicle unless you are in a camp ground, of course this is being pushed by the campgrounds.....
June wanted to do some laundry anyway so we got a site at the Fort Pierce KOA for the night. KOA's are great but $95 for a campsite is a bit rich, we don't do it often.
We picked our site and set off to meet Michele and Brian at Skipper's Cove Bar and Grill.
The place was packed, so we got in the queue while we waited for Michele and Brian, it was about a 30min wait, not bad.
They had live (loud) music and the place was hopping but we got a seat way in the back next to the water, just right for old folks.
We had a nice time catching up and we all had great meals.
We left the restaurant and continued chatting in our RV until nearly 11PM, it had been over 5 years...it takes time to catch up.
We got parked at camp and turned in, it has been a while since we have stayed up until midnight!
Sunday we plan to visit Bruce and Melissa in Pompano Beach.

Always good to catchup with Michele and Brian, it was a fun restaurant too. The KOA is very nice.
