Day3 16Feb25 - US Botanic Gardens, the Wharf and Italy

Sunday we did not go to the Spy Museum because we could not get tickets.  It will have to wait for another time. It seems planning is required, we are not good at that.

Since it was a rainy day we decided to go to the US Botanic Gardens.

The gardens have everything from tropical to desert climates.  We soaked up the warmth in the tropical rooms.

This week the gardens were doing an exhibit on Orchids, they were quite fragrant.

There was a young woman staging pictures in front of the orchid tree, after she left Bob was helping June get ready for her photo shoot.

We had fun in the gardens and even learned a few things, like how cashews grow...check it out.

After the gardens we drove to the DC Wharf on the Potomac River. We could see the planes going into Reagan Airport, we were not far from where the tragedy occurred on the 29th of January.

The Warf is beautiful, although it was a bit windy, when the sun came out it was quite comfortable walking along the river.

Many boats are still in on the docks.

We walked the main dock which is lined with big swings...Bob and I had to try them.

You can even fit four people on one, as long as you like each other.

The hotels along the Wharf are fairly new and some have interesting architecture, this one leans towards the water and has a large reflection that looks like water on the side of the building.

Bob never does anything without some motive, in this case it was to get us to reminisce about our trip to Italy together in 2018. Our walk took us to Officina, an Italian restaurant. Lunch was meat and cheese plates with prosecco drinks, it did take us back to our trip to Italy when we did this almost every afternoon.

We made our way back to where we parked but had to stop and have a cappuccino with Gelato, just like we did in Italy, it was a fun afternoon.

We headed home and had a nice dinner with the Malloys. After dinner we watched the first episode of The Diplomat, a new series.  It is captivating, but I will watch it again when we get home because there was so much going on it will require a second viewing to ensure I know all the players.

Monday we will make our way to South Carolina to stop and visit Curtis and Kacey.
